Member update after Streets of Willow - April 24/25, 2006
Phil C. and Leeton L.
Hey Guys,

Just thought I'd let you know how the last CLASS schools went this week. Both days were at Streets, weather was mid to high 70's, mostly clear, a little windy Tues afternoon but not too bad. Mondays school was normal A and B groups, things went really well. The class was sold out so a lot of people. But the A group wasn't too crowded and I got quite a few clean laps every sessions. I was running 208 GPs and they were really sticking. Leeton Lee was there, me and Leeton did the Spencer school a couple of weeks ago so we got to practice what we learned in Vegas. Which was really fun but a lot of work, moving around on the bike.

Tuesday was an Advanced school with only about 35 people, The school was much less formal, more like a friendly track day. Reg decided to put us all in one group and run 30 minute sessions. Which gave us a lot of track time, but really wore my ass out. Plus Reg allowed inside passing and really put everybody's trust to the test. Everyone there was really cool, and no real problems all day. I got passed on the inside going through turn 14 on the skid pad. It looked really cool to watch a great inside pass from the outside. I decided to back off a bit after lunch as my tires were pretty shagged, and getting a little squirmy coming out of the bowl. There was a guy on a Harley Road King there, sitting off, dragging hard parts and having a blast all day. Fun to watch and I was pretty impressed that he'd come out and ride with an advanced school full of sport bikes. A lot of guys were running the Dunlop Qualifiers and were talking about how well they were working. I think I might try a set next month. At the end of the day Reg said he meant to have us run the track backwards, but forgot. I'd like to try that, bet it's really wild. Maybe next time. Leeton's wife Stephie brought us a great lunch out to the track which made life extra special. Two absolutely awesome days.

See ya,
Phil

Great little write-up, Phil. Thanks!

You forgot the part where Reg kicked all of our asses yesterday afternoon. Here’s my personal story from yesterday: In Turn One, I was doing about 90 while hitting the apex (that’s fast for me, guys) and a bike comes blowing by me on my left doing at least 30 mph more than me. I looked up and it was friggin’ Reg relaxed like he was out for a Sunday ride, all smooth like he just ate lunch and was warming up his tires, but blasting by me at 120+, smoothly downshifting and braking for his entry to Turn Two. I was fixated for a second but suddenly I remembered “Holy Sh!t!! I’ve got a turn up ahead!!” and I’d better downshift and brake fast or I was going for an excursion into the desert!! Luckily, all the CLASS training paid off and I didn’t panic and was able to scrub some speed off before making Turn Two. But I was messed up for the rest of the lap. Reggie is still the FASTEST!!

Can’t wait til the next CLASS! See you guys out there.

Best,

Leeton.
